Our friend here— haaay @keyholez— is basically saying “If Serra was funnier he would have come up with this funny joke that I came up with.” He is basically saying “the controversy was cool and interesting but it’d be even MORE cool and interesting if we treated it as conceptual art.” Why would it be? There’s nothing magical about calling a thing “art” that makes that thing better or more interesting. The controversy WAS interesting. It is fun and enlightening to read the clippings and essays and court documents that came out of it. They wouldn’t be more fun or enlightening if Serra had put them in a box and sold the box for a million dollars. Get real

Here is 50 Cent’s new video.

You’ll notice his voice sounds funny. Specifically, it sounds funny in the way Eminem’s voice sounded on 3 A.M. and, actually, most of Relapse. Even 50’s diction on this song is straight from 3 A.M., with this sort of sing-songy creepy coyness he’s affecting.

It was weird when Eminem did it. It is beyond weird that 50 Cent copied him.

UPDATE: One sort of takes it for granted these days but it’s actually amazing what an awful rapper— and worse, what an incompetent marketer— 50 Cent has become.

Too many to name but: Smiths, Joy Division, Elvis Costello, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Talking Heads, Dylan, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel…nowhere near mint condition or anything but you know.

If someone wanted to buy them all from me for a sum I would be pleased.
